Chickpea Chocolate Spread is delicious and nutritious sugar-free, dairy-free, oil-free option for traditional chocolate spread.

- 1 can chickpeas
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 8 dates
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 cup hot water
Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Pat dry the chickpeas with a kitchen towel to remove all the water.
Place them on a baking tray and bake in the preheated 220C oven for about 30-35 minutes until crispy and slightly golden.
Add the chickpeas, cocoa powder, dates, maple syrup and water to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
Adjust the Consistency: Depending on how thick or smooth you like your spread, add water a little at a time. Continue blending until you achieve your desired consistency.
Once blended, taste your spread. Want it sweeter? Add more sweetener. Need more chocolate intensity? Throw in a little more cocoa powder.
Transfer your spread into an airtight container and store it in the fridge. It will stay fresh for up to a week—if it lasts that long!
