For the onions:
- 3 medium red onions thinly sliced
For the marinade:
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 –4 whole peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon sumac
