This olive and sun dried tomato tapenade is a perfect spread for olive lovers. Olives – it’s the thing you either love or hate. And if you are a olive lover like me this will be perfect spread for you. If you’re looking for a way to get more olives in your life – or just a delicious new dip or spread – this tapenade is the perfect solution.

What is tapenade?

A tapenade is a thick, olive-based sauce spread (similar to pesto in texture), typically enjoyed as an appetizer over bread or pizza.

It starts with delicious olives! I love to use rich green olives. Try to find good quality olives for this recipe as some of the store bought tastes bitter. You can also use kalamata olives if you prefer the taste over the green ones. Also you can use the mixture of green and kalamata olives here!

To give this tapenade a fresh, tangy flavor, I used garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and lots of fresh herbs. The tomatoes provide richness, the garlic adds a bit of zing, and the herbs adds up a lovely herby flavour. I love to use here fresh mint, dill and parsley. You can definitely substitute the herbs for your likin. It will be perferc as well with fresh oregano, basil or rosemary.

Bonus for you! It all comes together in just one food processor under 5 minutes!. So so easy to make. Simply pulse until desired thick consistency and add a little bit of olive oil if you want the spread to be more creamy.

Olive Sun Dried Tomato Tapenade

Prep Time 5 minutes
Course Snack


  • 1 cup green olives
  • ½ cup sun dried tomatoes in oil
  • handful fresh mint
  • handful fresh parsley
  • handful fresh dill
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic


  • Add all the ingredients to a food processor along with some olive oil.
  • Pulse, scraping the sides until desired consistency. Serve it and Enjoy!
